Lab Diamond Resale Value & Appraisal: What You Should Know
Do lab-grown diamonds hold their resale value?
Both Natural & Lab Diamond prices have dropped significantly in recent years. Like all diamonds, mined or lab-grown, the retail purchase price and the secondary market resale price are different things. Lab grown diamonds are priced a lot lower at retail than mined diamonds of comparable size and quality, which reflects their production cost rather than a lack of inherent value. We always tell our customers that we don't see any type of Diamond (Mined or Lab grown) as a financial investment.
How are lab-grown diamonds appraised?
Lab-grown diamonds are appraised using the same 4Cs criteria the same as mined diamonds. Cut, Colour, Clarity, and carat weight. A certified gemological appraisal assesses the stone on its own merits. For insurance and appraisal purposes, the grading certificate that accompanies your stone is a key document as it records the diamond's verified specifications independently of where it was purchased.
What certification do Lilywho lab diamonds carry?
Our lab-grown diamonds are certified by recognised gemological laboratories IGI and GIA. Each certificate provides an independent, verifiable record of your diamond's characteristics. We recommend keeping this certificate alongside your jewellery for any future appraisal, insurance, or resale conversations.
Does Lilywho offer any warranty?
Yes. Our jewellery is covered by our standard warranty, which applies to manufacturing defects and craftsmanship. Please refer to our warranty terms at the time of purchase for full details. A warranty covers the piece itself, it is separate from resale value, which is determined by the secondary market.
What if I want to upgrade or sell in the future?
We encourage customers to have honest conversations with us before purchase about long-term intentions. While we cannot guarantee future market prices for any diamond, lab-grown or mined, we are happy to discuss your options and point you to our current collection so you can make a fully informed choice.
